All presidential palaces in Tikrit liberated, says Interior Ministry
(IraqiNews.com) The Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday, that the federal police forces have liberated all the presidential palaces in Tikrit and gained control over al-Alam Bridge.
The ministry’s spokesman, Brigadier General Saad Maan said in an interview for IraqiNew.com, “The federal police was able today to liberate the government complex building, the security centers and the 13 presidential palaces.
Maan added, “The forces gained control over the bridge of Alam district,” indicating that, “Dozens of suicide bombers have been killed and a large number of vehicles belonging to the terrorists were destroyed and dozens of improvised explosives dismantled.”
Yesterday, the federal police forces and the Volunteer Fighters (al-Hashd al-Sha’bi militia) raised the Iraqi flag over Tikrit Great Mosque and the school of medicine, and are now close to the presidential palaces.
The security forces and the Volunteer Fighters managed earlier on Monday to raise the Iraqi flag over Tikrit hospital and the government complex downtown after killing 36 ISIS elements.
