(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – The commander of Tigris Operations Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir al-Zaidi announced on Monday, that his forces had foiled an attack on Ajeel and Alas petroleum fields north of  Salah al-Din, noting that this has led to the death of more than 20 ISIS gunmen including 2 suicide bombers.

Al-Zaidi said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “ISIS attacked late last night security posts in the vicinity of Alas and Ajeel petroleum fields northern Salahuddin,” indicating that, “Members of the security forces supported by al-Hashed al-Sha’bi  militia confronted them bravely.”

“More than 20 militants were killed during the attack, while three tanks bomb, driven by suicide bombers, destroyed, as well as two vehicles carrying mono weapons,” Al-Zaidi added.

Al-Zaidi stressed that, “the surrounding land in Alas and Ajeel fields is under the security control,” pointing out that, “preventive measures contributed to the defeat of ISIS attacks over the past weeks.”
