(IraqiNews.com) Erbil – The head of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, announced on Sunday, that the region is in need to more weapons to defend itself and its presence, stressing the importance of ensuring the future of all the components of the Nineveh province.

Barzani said in a press statement issued by the Presidency of the Kurdistan region on the sidelines of a meeting with a joint delegation of the US House of Representatives and the Senate received by IraqiNews.com, “The people of Kurdistan needs more weapons to defend themselves and their presence,” adding that “these people live in the area where threats increasing and infested with extremism on an ongoing basis. ”

Barzani thanked “the government and people of the United States for their support to the people of Kurdistan and the Peshmerga forces in the war against terrorism,” stressing that, “the importance of ensuring the future of nationalities, religions and sects in Nineveh.”
