(IraqiNews.com) Kirkuk – The governor of Kirkuk Nijm al-Deen Kareem announced, that the Peshmerga forces liberated vast areas that were under the control of the ISIS organization, while pointed out to the receiving of tens of families fleeing from the organization.

According to an official statement issued by the governor of Kirkuk’s office and obtained by IraqiNews.com, Karim said: “The Peshmerga forces made great sacrifices in order to secure the lives of all the citizens of Kirkuk and the displaced families,” stressing that “We appreciate these sacrifices and honor them; They are the pride of the people of Kirkuk.”

Karim added, “Thanks to the sacrifices of the Peshmerga and the security coordination, ISIS elements were unable to occupy new territories. Unlike other cities and provinces, the Peshmerga forces had managed to liberate large areas, most recently last Friday where it liberated a number of villages,” pointing out at the same time that, “The Authority of Immigration Department received the families fleeing from ISIS and provided tents and assistance to them.”
