(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The British newspaper “The Independent” asserted that the number of ISIS elements in Syria and Iraq amounts to about 31 thousand elements flocked from all over the world, pointing out that three-quarters of the foreigners in the ranks of the organization came from Western Europe.

The Independent cited an article by Alistair Dawber, entitled “The ISIS and other jihadist organizations have 31,000 fighters in Syria and Iraq.”

The author of the article said, “The number of foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq belonging to ISIS and other organizations in Syria was doubled over the past 18 months, according to US Intelligence Center.”

Dawber added that “Three-quarters of foreign fighters in the ranks of the organization came from Western Europe, particularly from France and Belgium, including 760 British citizens that went to fight in Syria and 350 of them returned.”
