(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has departed for China on an official visit to strengthen the economic, military and security relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister’s office said in a statement, “On Thursday, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and his accompanying delegation left Baghdad on an official visit to China, where he supposed to meet the Chinese President, the Chairman of the National People’s Congress and the Premier of the People’s Republic of China.”

The statement added, “The visit aims at strengthening the relations between the two countries and the mutual cooperation in economic, military and security fields,” noting that “Iraq is looking forward to expand economic cooperation and the number of Chinese companies investing in the country, especially in oil and energy fields.”

The statement indicated, “A number of agreements will be signed during the visit to strengthen mutual cooperation between the two countries,” adding that, “The official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes a group of ministers, officials and advisers.”
