Security forces foil ISIS attack, kill 25 of its elements west of Tikrit
(IraqiNews.com) Salahaddin – On Tuesday, a security source in Salahuddin Province stated, that the security forces were able to repel a massive attack carried out by ISIS west of Tikrit (170 km north of Baghdad) using eight car bombs driven by suicide bombers.
The source said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “Today, the security forces were able to repel a massive attack carried out by ISIS suicide bombers driving eight booby-trapped cars in al-Jzeera area (15 km west of Tikrit), killing 25 elements of the organization.”
The source added: “The security forces compelled ISIS elements to retreat after a fierce battle,” pointing out that, “The security forces fully controlled the situation western the city of Tikrit.”
