 UN announces death and injury of about 2,000 Iraqis in violent acts in February

(IraqiNews.com) The United Nations announced on Tuesday the killing and wounding of some two thousand Iraqis as a result of terrorism and armed conflicts during the last month, while pointed out that Baghdad was the most affected by the violent acts.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The numbers verified by the mission reported the death of a total of 670 Iraqis and injury of 1290 others in acts of terrorism and violence that took place in Iraq during the month of February 2016.”

The statement added, “The number of civilian deaths reached 410 people, including 11 people from the employees of the federal police and members of the civil defense team as well as al-Sahwa employees, personal guards, facilities police and employees of the fire team, while the number of injured civilians reached 1050 people, including 34 employees of the federal police and members of the civil defense of al-Sahwa, personal guards, facilities police and employees of the fire team.”
