(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Wednesday, Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced liberating a number of Yazidi women from ISIS during a tactical operation in an area controlled by ISIS militants.

The ministry said in a press statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The General Directorate of Intelligence and Security carried out an intelligence operation that enabled our fighters to penetrate ISIS lines and free a number of Yazidi [women],” indicating that, “The operation was carried out in an area controlled by ISIS.”

The statement added, “The intelligence officers were able to penetrate ISIS [lines] and free the women in the heart of the city,” pointing out that “The women are in a safe place.”
