(IraqiNews.com) The official Cypriot television announced on Tuesday, that the hijacker of EgyptAir plane surrendered to the authorities as he came out of the plane with his hands in the air after the release of all those on board.

The Cypriot Foreign Ministry tweeted, “The matter is over.”

The Cypriot media reported on Tuesday that the a man demanding the release of female prisoners in Egypt hijacked an EgyptAir plane that was on an internal flight from Alexandria to Cairo and forced it to land in Cyprus.

Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sharif Fathi stated earlier at a news conference followed by IraqiNews.com, “The plane landed at Larnaca Airport; the hijacker released all those on board with the exception of three passengers and four crew members after negotiations.”

Noteworthy the Cyprus Radio and Television Authority had presented live footage of eight people coming out of the plane, two of which came out of the cockpit window of the plane.

The Egyptian Aviation Ministry said in a press statement that 81 people, including 21 foreigners, and a crew of 15 people were on board the Airbus 320.

Egyptian Prime Minister Sharif Ismail said that the person who hijacked an EgyptAir plane today was an Egyptian national, while pointed out that the hijacker had asked during the negotiations with the Cypriot Larnaca airport to meet with an EU official.
