(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – The United Nations Development Program in Iraq (UNDP) announced on Thursday, that Netherlands donated five million euros to support stabilization in areas newly liberated from the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Netherlands in Baghdad, Mr. Jan Van Weijen pointed out to the active participation of Netherlands in the international coalition operations against the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, while renewed his country’s support for Baghdad in the liberation of its occupied territories.

UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq, Ms. Lise Grande, said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “The Kingdom of the Netherlands is giving US$5.69 (€5 million) to the United Nations Development Program to support stabilization in areas newly liberated from the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.”

Grande added, “Hundreds of thousands of displaced Iraqis are ready to return home to newly liberated areas. Helping to stabilize these areas, many of which have been badly destroyed, is one of our highest priorities. We are enormously grateful to the Dutch Government for their generous support”.
