ISIS appoints German national as military commander for Nineveh
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – A local source in Nineveh informed on Wednesday, that the ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had appointed a German national as the military commander of ‘Wilayat Nineveh’.
According to information shared by the source and also obtained by Iraqi News, it was mentioned, “ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi exempted the military commander for Wilayat Nineveh, Muaz al-Aferi, and appointed a close associate of him holding the German nationality,” adding, “The latter is considered to be one of those ISIS leaders who had spent years in Afghanistan and returned to Iraq after ISIS had seized Nineveh two years back.”
The souce further added, “ISIS has lost almost all its positions in Nineveh due to the approach of the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces from the borders of the province.”
