Mortar attack and explosion kills six in Baghdad
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Security sources informed that 5 persons were killed in a mortar shells attack that was launched on the displaced persons camp in Baghdad, while a police officer was killed in a separate suicide bombing north of Baghdad.
A statement from the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stated, “Three mortar shells fell at al-Salam camp, one on its center and the two others on a market.”
“The attack is the third of its kind on the camp in the recent times,” the statement added.
In the other incident, a suicide bomber blew up himself after being banned from entering a crowded market in al-Shoala neighborhood, resulting in the killing of a police officer.
