KRG believes in dialogue to settle disputes with Baghdad: PM
Erbil (BasNews) Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday in Erbil.
During the meeting, Jaafari stated that Kurdistan Region is an important part of Iraq, stressing out the need of coordination between KRG and the central government. He noted that it was such a coordination which led to the defeat of the Islamic State in Iraq.
Barzani said the KRG’s policy is to cooperate with the Iraqi federal army to eliminate the threats of terrorism and terrorists in Iraq and the region.
To settle the suspended issues between Baghdad and Erbil, Barzani reiterated that the Kurdistan Region Government believes in serious bilateral dialogues.
The pair discussed further issues including the Baghdad-Erbil relations.
Iraqi FM is currently visiting Kurdistan Region to participate in a panel on Iraq’s foreign policy at the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok.
