Three Islamic State members arrested in Anbar: Military intelligence
A number of persons were arrested in Baqubah.
In a statement, the department said troops managed through accurate information “to arrest three militants in Fallujah city in Anbar.”
One of the arrested, according to the statement, “took part, along with others, in several battles against security troops. They also managed to set two police stations of al-Saqlawiya and Fallujah on fire.”
On Friday, three Islamic State militants were reportedly killed as they attempted attacking a security checkpoint at the Kilo 18 region, west of Anbar. On the same day, Baghdad Today website quoted security sources saying that militants attacked the special operations regiment headquarter, west of Ramadi. Four members, including an officer, were wounded in the attack.
Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016.
Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
