Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Ten people were wounded when a booby-trapped car exploded in Iraq’s city of Mosul on Tuesday, according to security media.

The Security Meda Center said ten citizens were wounded in a terrorist attack carried out by a booby-trapped vehicle in a marketplace in Qayyara, south of Mosul.

The center said the casualty toll was initial.

Iraqi provinces have seen almost daily bombings and armed attacks against civilians and security since Islamic State militants took over a large part of the country in 2014 to proclaim a self-styled “caliphate”. The violence continues even after the government declared victory over the group in December 2017.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) counted 75 deaths among Iraqis due to violence and armed conflict throughout the month of September.

Mosul was the capital of Islamic State’s previously-proclaimed “caliphate”, and was recaptured by Iraqi forces in July 2017 before the government declared regaining control over all of the group’s bastions in December 2017.
