Iraqi army declares nationwide curfew from 1600 GMT
Baghdad – Iraq’s army declared a nationwide curfew from 7:00 pm (1600 GMT) Monday after supporters of Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr stormed the government building in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone.
Live fire rocked the Green Zone and security forces fired tear gas to disperse Sadr supporters converging on the area after the influential cleric announced his retirement from politics earlier in the day.
