Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – An explosion of a liquid gas tank on Thursday evening shook the city of Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq, and caused casualties.

The huge gas tank was placed on top of a building in a neighborhood in the eastern part of Sulaymaniyah.

Three residential buildings were collapsed and several cars parked around the buildings were severely damaged due to the explosion.

At least five people died and 15 others were injured after the buildings collapsed.

Media reports mentioned that there are civilians trapped under the ruins of the collapsed buildings.

Sources indicated that one of the collapsed buildings is a three-story building, and that civil defense teams arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion occurred.

Sulaymaniyah police said that there are at least three people still trapped under the rubble.

At least 30 people were injured on November 6, after a commercial building in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, caught fire and then collapsed.

The civil defense directorate announced at that time that the civil defense director, Kazim Buhan, and at least 11 firefighters were injured when the burning building in Baghdad collapsed.
