Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Education, Ibrahim Namis Al-Jubouri, announced on Saturday that the first Iraqi electronic school will be launched in July.

Al-Jubouri mentioned in a statement that the ministry, in a step through which it seeks to accommodate those who faced difficulties joining regular schools, will provide this segment next July with the first electronic school that includes curricula through virtual classes.

Al-Jubouri explained that the step is in line with international agreements with the United Nations and its directions aiming to develop and activate distance education.

The Iraqi minister added that distance education should be used to serve those who did not have the opportunity to go to schools for different reasons.

Distance education (distance learning) is the education of students who may not always be physically present at a school, or where the learner and the teacher are in different places.

Distance education is a technology mediated modality and has evolved with the evolution of technologies such as video conferencing, TV, and internet.

Distance education involves online education and the learning is usually mediated by some form of technology. Distance learning can also take place with complementary virtual environment or teaching in virtual environment (e-learning).
