Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – According to a recent report by the Spectator Index, Iraq has the third-highest unemployment rate in the world, with a rate of 14.2%.

This troubling number reflects the country’s persistent difficulties in establishing job possibilities for Iraqis. Given that Iraq is a significant oil producer with immense natural resources, the high unemployment rate is especially troubling.

Lack of investment in critical industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and infrastructure is another factor contributing to Iraq’s high unemployment rate. Despite its massive oil reserves, Iraq has failed to diversify its economy and create jobs outside of the oil and gas industry and the public sector. As a result, many young Iraqis have been left unemployed, leading to frustration.
