Iraqi-Saudi talks to re-operate flights between Baghdad and Riyadh
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Transport, Razzaq Al-Saadawi, held bilateral talks on Monday with his Saudi counterpart, Saleh Al-Jasser, on railway projects and air flights between the two countries.
The discussions between both ministers took place on the sidelines of the meetings of the Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference (SMIC) held in the Saudi city of Jeddah, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Al-Saadawi called on Al-Jasser to operate flights between Baghdad and Riyadh.
The Saudi Minister of Transport said that his country is eager to carry out the railway project between Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The discussions between the two ministers addressed the details of the Development Road project Iraq is working on, according to the Iraqi Transport Ministry.
The Iraqi ministry elaborated that a Saudi technical team will visit Baghdad in the coming days to hold further discussions on the details of the Development Road project.
The meeting also discussed the maritime transport agreement between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and its role in supporting trade exchange between the two countries, in addition to other issues related to border crossings and ports.
The Saudi Minister of Transport emphasized Saudi Arabia’s readiness to overcome obstacles that may hinder the resumption of flights between the two countries.
