Iraqi PM to visit Russia by end of 2023
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, announced that the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, plans to visit Russia before the end of the current year.
In a press interview on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Hussein explained that Al-Sudani’s visit to Russia will take place within the coming months, and arrangements are being made to have this visit undertaken soon.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister also confirmed that relations between Iraq and Russia remain strong, despite the sanctions imposed on Moscow and the changes in policies due to the conflict in Ukraine.
Last July, the Russian Ambassador to Baghdad, Elbrus Kutrashev, said that the Iraqi Prime Minister had accepted an invitation to visit Russia, but the date of the visit had not been set yet.
The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly began on Tuesday under the theme, “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.”
