Iraq imports goods worth $86 million from Jordan in one month

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Jordanian Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday that Iraq was the largest importer of goods from Jordan in January.

The Jordanian Chamber of Commerce mentioned in a statement that the goods Iraq imported are worth 61 million Jordanian dinars (approximately $86 million).

Jordan exported goods in January worth 108 million Jordanian dinars ($152.3 million), compared to 99 million Jordanian dinars ($139.6 million) for the same period in 2023.

The UAE was the second-largest importer of Jordanian goods in January, with imports worth $10 million Jordanian dinars ($14.1 million), followed by Egypt, which imported goods from Jordan worth $8 million Jordanian dinars ($11.28 million).

Iraq imports most of its goods and merchandise from neighboring countries, particularly Turkey and Iran, after Jordan was a major market for Iraq in the 1990s during the period of the economic blockade.

Jordanian exports to Iraq include fruits and vegetables, cheese, eggs, milk, palm oil, chickens, boneless meat, salt, cigarettes, mineral water, juices, medications, paints, perfumes, skin care products, pipes, tubes, glass, wood, textiles, cotton, and electrical appliances.

Jordan’s imports from Iraq include petroleum products, minerals, natural gas, diesel, potassium sulfate, fertilizers, aluminum, dried dates, chickpeas, wheat, barley, sorghum, fruit trees, and furniture.
