Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – On the 1st of August, the Orange Corners Baghdad Incubation Program announced the launch of its 9th cohort’s application. The program, which has been training and investing in young Iraqi talents, is set to begin a new chapter with 20 Iraqi creatives who will take their startups and entrepreneurial skills to the next level.

The Orange Corners Program is a fully funded initiative by the Government of the Netherlands, aiming to foster innovation and support startups worldwide. In Baghdad, the program is implemented by Kapita Business Hub in collaboration with Asiacell. The program consists of six months of intensive training for 20 Iraqi entrepreneurs, designed to empower them in their journey of building sustainable businesses. The workshops focus on developing crucial technical skills, including accounting, market research, digital marketing, and sales.

The program has already helped numerous Iraqi entrepreneurs start or elevate their businesses. The last cohort enabled 12 projects to transform into fully operational businesses. Nurturing new talent and turning innovative ideas into tangible enterprises has always been the core mission of this initiative.

Previous winners of the program included:

  1. Baghdad Game Lab: A start-up working in showing the importance of the gaming industry in Iraq. Aiming to empower individuals interested in the gaming industry to take their first step and start their journey.
  2. Jameela.com: a mobile app service that provides super-markets, and retail shops with accessibility to most available products in their industry.
  3. RW: The first Iraqi brand that specializes in manufacturing natural hair care products with organic materials.

Iraq has seen a rise in initiatives similar to the Orange Corners Program, such as Raa’idaat, Five One Labs, The Makers, Qaf Lab, and Hub200. These programs and incubators have been instrumental in advancing the Iraqi economy by supporting talented youth across various sectors. Together, they are gradually transforming and enhancing the private sector landscape in Iraq, driving innovation and growth.
