Human Rights Watch calls for retrial of 24 convicted in Speicher massacre
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Human Rights Watch organization demanded the Iraqi authorities to re-trial 24 convicted of Speicher massacre.
The deputy executive director of the Middle East, Joe Stork, said in a statement posted on the organization’s website and followed by IraqiNews.com: “the Iraqi authorities should re-trial the 24 convicted in Speicher massacre that were sentenced to death on 8 July,” adding that, “This trial is not fair.”
Stork added: “The trial continued for only two hours, preventing the defense from presenting witnesses and evidence,” stressing the need for a fair trial.
