IED attack foiled in Falluja
ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Monday foiled an improvised explosive device (IED) attack that targeted a policeman’s house in downtown Falluja city. “On Monday, emergency police forces defused an IED planted near a house belonging to a senior officer in downtown Falluja,” Lt. Col. Hatef Mohammed told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A security cordon was immediately put in place,” Mohammed noted, adding that the operation was carried out in light of intelligence tips from local residents. Falluja was a scene of armed conflict between U.S. and Iraqi forces on the one hand and al-Qaeda gunmen on the other. Falluja, the largest city in Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad; while Ramadi, the capital of the province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
