NATO agrees to build Iraq’s military capabilities
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization “NATO” Jens Stoltenberg informed on Friday Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi about the approval of the alliance to build Iraq’s military capabilities, while Abadi called for NATO to provide devices for removing mines and improvised explosivs.
Abadi’s office said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com: “Prime Minister received today a telephone call from the secretary-general of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, where they discussed the security situation in Iraq and the region, as well as training and equipping Iraqi forces and NATO assistance for Iraq in its war against terrorist gangs.”
The statement added that: “NATO Secretary General informed the Prime Minister during this call with the consent of the members of the alliance to contribute to the construction of Iraq’s capabilities and develop its capabilities in military fields, in addition to providing full support for it.”
