$15B investments in Kurdistan in 2 years
SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: An amount of 15 billion U.S. dollars have been invested in projects in Iraq’s Kurdistan region throughout two years, a senior local official said. “A total of $15 billion have been invested in projects in the region since the enactment of the Investment Law in June 2006 and until September 2008,” the general director of the investment department in Sulaimaniya, Yaseen Fiqi Saed, told IraqiNews.com. Saed explained that the number of investment projects implemented throughout this period was 127, mostly by companies from Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Lebanon, Britain, the United States, and Jordan. “The United Arab Emirates companies had the lion’s share with $6 billion worth of projects,” the official noted.
