4 service projects in Arbil
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Four service projects were finalized in the district of Soran, Arbil province, in an attempt to address the water scarcity problem, the Soran mayor said on Sunday. “Four water supply projects were finalized in Soran district, (135 km) northeastern Arbil, today. The first one envisaged stretching and maintaining water pipelines at a cost of 509 million Iraqi dinars (US$ 1 equals 1118 Iraqi dinars),” Kirmanj Ezzat told IraqiNews.com. “The second was the extension of a water network from Baraya Ti to Soran at 135 million Iraqi dinars, the third a drinking water network for the area of Zarkili at 471 million Iraqi dinars and the fourth one a water project for Sidkan district,” Ezzat added. Arbil, also written Erbil or Irbil , is believed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited in the world and is one of the largest cities in Iraq . The city lies eighty kilometers (fifty miles) east of Mosul . In 2005, its estimated population was 990,000 inhabitants. The city is the capital of the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region and the Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG). It hosts the headquarters of the Kurdistan region ministers and parliament.
