5 global firms vie to invest Nasseriya refinery
THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: The Thi-Qar investment commission said it would set up an investment oil refinery after five global firms offered requests in this respect, according to the commission’s chief. “Five international corporations have offered to build two types of oil refineries at capacities of 300,000 barrels per day and 250,000 bpd in a bid to cover the province’s needs within a short time frame,” Isamil al-Abboudi told IraqiNews.com news agency. Thi-Qar Governor Taleb al-Hassan said Thi-Qar is rich in oil and “we have to find the best means to make good use of it in the service of the country and citizens”. “The oil ministry has expressed readiness to cooperate on the construction of an oil refinery but there are principles that must be taken into consideration so as to build projects capable of generating the best investments in this vital sector,” he told IraqiNews.com.
