58 violations recorded, 20 mills fined
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Commercial Monitoring Department said that a total of 4,052 field visits have been made to foodstuff agents, grain mills and central markets, during which 58 violations were recorded and 20 mills were fined, a ministerial statement said on Monday. “Teams from the department have examined citizens’ complaints to punish those responsible for the violations,” read the statement that was received by IraqiNews.com, quoting a source from the department, which is affiliated with the Iraqi Ministry of Trade, as saying. The violations have been reported in the provinces of Baghdad , Najaf, Wassit, Babel , Basra , and Salah al-Din, according to the source. A total of 22 grain mills in the provinces of Thi-Qar, Salah al-Din, Diala, Karbala , Basra , and Babel have been fined for violating contract terms, the source added. “The department will take deterrent measures against manipulators and those who violate existing instructions and laws,” read the statement.
