752,000 donums of wheat, barley harvested in Wassit

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: The winter harvesting process of wheat and barley began on Tuesday in Wassit, embracing an area of 752 thousand donums which represents a reduction of 20 percent compared to last season, according to the province’s agriculture director. “The 752 thousand donums (one Iraqi donum equals 2500 square meters) consists of 512 thousand donums of wheat and 240 thousand donums of barley,” Engineer Salam Iskandar told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Farmed area this season is smaller than that of the pervious one by 20 percent due to lack of water,” he said.
