Additional unit in Najaf refinery ups production to 30,000 bpd

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An additional unit to the Najaf oil refinery was inaugurated on Saturday in the district of al-Hadariya, which should up production of the facility to reach 30,000 barrels per day (bpd), according to the Iraqi oil ministry spokesman. “The n ew unit, which added 10,000 bpd to the refinery, will produce gas oil, kerosene and benzene, and this should meet the province’s needs for oil derivatives,” Assem Jihad told Iraqi News. “During the next few days the ministry will also inaugurate another unit to improve benzene quality,” he added. Work on the Najaf refinery had started on October 3, 2003 . Its first stage was finalized with the addition of one unit to produce 10,000 bpd while the second was added on March 21, 2008 at a capacity of 10,000 bpd. AmR (P)/SR 1
