Double demand for the dollar in CBI auction

B AGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Demand for the dollar doubled at the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) auction on Monday, registering at over $233 million, more than twice yesterday’s demand of nearly $110 million. “The demand hit $54.400 million in cash and $179.490 million in foreign transfers outside the country, all covered by the bank at a stable exchange rate of 1,179 Iraqi dinars per dollar,” an official source from the bank told IraqiNews.com. None of the 15 banks that participated in the session offered to sell dollars. The Central Bank of Iraq runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday. SS (P) 1
