Electricity department building opened in Hilla

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi minister of electricity on Tuesday inaugurated the building of the general department of al-Furat al-Awsat electricity production in Babel’s Hilla city. “The building has been set up by al-Faw Engineering Company at a cost of 4.5 billion Iraqi dinars over a period of 20 months,” Minister Kareem Waheed told IraqiNews.com news agency. The butterfly-designed building includes 85 rooms, in addition to several electronic and electrical systems. “Today, al-Furat al-Awsat’s production of electricity hits 1,000 MW,” the minister added. Al-Furat al-Awsat, a geographical area in southern and central Iraq at the Euphrates River Basin, encompasses the provinces of Najaf, Karbala, Diwaniya and Babel and sometimes al-Muthanna. Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
