Falluja-bound railway line operates soon
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Railway Department will operate a line to the city of Falluja in the next few days within preparations to re-open the western Iraq line, the department spokesman said on Sunday. “The Falluja line will be the first stage to resume train trips to al-Anbar province while the second stage envisages stretching lines to the area of Hassiba, near the Iraqi-Syrian borders after rehabilitation works,” said Jawad al-Kharsan in statements to IraqiNews.com news agency. “Some railway lines will be used by the sulphuric acid and phosphate plants in the area of Okashat,” the source added. Falluja, the largest city in the overwhelmingly Sunni province of al-Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
