ICRC to help 11,000 Kurdish farmers
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Saturday said that wheat and chemical fertilizers will be distributed to 11,000 disadvantaged farmers to help them overcome the desiccation during the last season. “Each farmer will each get 250 kg of wheat and chemical fertilizers,” Hoshyar Mustafa, the ICRC Kurdistan branch media director, told IraqiNews.com. “The ICRC will also provide those disadvantaged farmers with foodstuffs enough for six months and will encourage them not to quit farming,” he added. The ICRC opened an office in Iraq for the first time in 1981. In 1991, it opened two offices in the Kurdish provinces of Arbil and Sulaimaniya. MH (P)/AmR 1
