ID 6 billion vocational training center in Diwaniya
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The labor and social affairs ministry announced on Wednesday the establishment of a vocational training center worth 6 billion Iraqi dinars within the ministry’s 2009 investment plan. “The ministry has established a vocational training center in Diwaniya with a total cost of 6 billion Iraqi dinars ($5 million),” said the ministry in a statement quoting the general director of the projects department Ammar Abdul Wahed al-Sudani received by IraqiNews.com. He did not add more details. Diwaniya, a Shiite province, lies 180 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. In 2002, the population of Diwaniya was estimated at 420,000. The area around the province, which is well irrigated from the nearby Euphrates River, is often considered to be one of the most fertile parts of Iraq, and is heavily cultivated. The town is located on the main rail transport corridor between Baghdad and Basra. For birdwatchers, Diwaniya is a city with a rich bird list, as it has a wide range of biodiversity. SH (P) 1
