Integrity Commission announces recovery of 5 billion dinars to Iraqi treasury
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Integrity Commission announced on Thursday the recovery of more than five billion dinars to the state treasury, pointing out to the implementation of 373 arrest warrants out of more than 1,700.
The head of Integrity Commission Hassan al-Yasiri said in a press conference held in the capital Baghdad and attended by IraqiNews.com, “The money, which got judicial sentences for its recovery to the state treasury amounted to five billion, 889 million, 455 thousand and 853 Iraqi dinars”.
“The Commission has issued arrest warrants against more than 1,700 accused, 373 arrest warrants have been implemented,” Yasiri added.
The financial and administrative corruption is spreading in Iraq, dramatically. Transparency International ranked Iraq the third most corrupt country in the world after Somalia and Sudan, but the Iraqi government often criticizes the organization reports on corruption and considers them inaccurate and based on the information reached by local and foreign companies failed to implement service projects in Iraq.
