Iraq ranks 37th globally, 5th regionally in gold reserves
(IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, World Gold Council said that Iraq ranks 37th globally and 5th of the Arab world in gold reserves, while the United States ranks the first globally and Saudi Arabia the first in the Arab word.
The council said in a report followed by IraqiNews.com, “International Monetary Fund published in its report of the current year 2015 that Iraq ranked 37th globally out of 100 countries that were included in the report of the gold reserves,” noting that, “Iraq’s gold reserves totaled 89.8 tons. ”
World Council added that, “Iraq ranks fifth after Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Algeria and Libya,” adding that, ” The value of gold amounted to 4.9% of Iraq’s reserves of foreign currency.”
The Council noted that, “The United States, which has more than 8133 tons, ranks first for the gold reserves, followed by Germany in second place, while Albania ranks last for possessing one ton and 600 kilograms.”
