Iraq signs contract with IATA to collect airspace transit tolls
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi signed on Friday a contract with the world aviation body that empowers it to collect fees for aeroplanes passing through its airspace, the transport ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said its technical secretary signed with the International Air Travel Agency, saying that the contract is “first of its kind, and results into collecting fees for passage through Iraqi airspace”.
It noted that the contract will “ensure secure, orderly aviation, and represents an important economic factor that refreshes the country’s economy”.
The ministry said in September that more than 8.7 million people passed through Iraqi airports throughout 2017.
