ISX index up 7%, closes at 260.9 points

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX) on Thursday rose by 7.244% to close at 260.932 points in a session that saw more than 330 million shares exchanging hands at a value of 464 million Iraqi dinars (ID) or $397,000 in 154 transactions. The agricultural sector took the lead with 41.2% of the traded shares with the agricultural index, closing at 90,188 points at a stable position compared to the previous session, followed by the banking sector with 37%. The ISX had witnessed the first e-trading session on April 19 over five registered companies, three banks and two hotels. The ISX holds three sessions on a weekly basis: one electronic session over five joint-stock companies on Sundays and two manual trading sessions over 86 registered companies out of a total 91 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
