ISX trading up to ID38b this week
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Trading in the Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX) went up excessively this week to hit more than 38 billion Iraqi dinars (roughly $33 million) with a total number of traded shares of 31.843 billion dinars through 1291 deals. Non-Iraqi investors obtained 63 purchase deals worth 9.319 billion dinars and 11 sale deals worth 89.9 million dinars. The ISX index saw a slight down of 0.2 points to close at 94.7 points compared to last week’s 94.9 points. The ISX witnessed its first E-trading session on April 19, 2009 over five registered companies, three banks and two hotels. The banks were: Ashur International Bank (AIB), Al-Mansour Bank and the Iraqi Credit Bank while the hotels were: Ashtar Hotel and Al-Mansour Hotel. On June 7, 2009 the Iraqi Middle East Investment Bank and the Warka Bank joined the electronic trading sessions. The ISX now holds five sessions from Sunday to Thursday. AmR (P) 1
