Kurdish-Czech businessmen council founded
ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Union of Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Iraq’s Kurdistan on Saturday signed an agreement with its Czech counterpart to establish a Kurdish-Czech businessmen council in an attempt boost trade cooperation between both countries. “The agreement includes the establishment of an economic council and aims at exchanging visits and information, holding exhibitions, and benefiting from experts from both sides,” the chairman of Arbil’s Union of Chambers of Industry and Commerce, Dara Jaleel Khayat, told IraqiNews.com. Meanwhile, the deputy director general of the Czech chambers of commerce said that the main aim of the initiative is to deepen relations between Czech and Kurdish companies. The Czech official revealed the intention of his country’s companies to compete for contracts in the Iraqi electricity sector. A number of Czech companies have been carrying out projects in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, particularly in the field of archeological restoration. SS (P) 1
