Legal Committee: parliament not authorized to increase federal budget’s sums
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) MP Abdul Rahman al-Luaizi, member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed that the parliament has no power to increase the sums of the federal budget.
He added in a statement to IraqiNews.com that “Legally, the draft law of the general budget is prepared by the federal government where it is approved, then to be sent to the Parliament for voting,” noting that “The parliament is not authorized to increase the money sums of the federal budget but it can only move some sections within its financial allocations and re-submit those amendments to the Council of Ministers.”
It is worth to mention that the Council of Ministers has approved the draft law of 2013 budget which reached IQD (138) trillion.
