Local firm to implement bridge project in Basra
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Ibn Majid Company will undertake the implementation of al-Tanouma bridge project over Shatt al-Arab in the province of Basra, according to an information source within the industry & minerals ministry on Thursday. “The two-way bridge will be nine meters wide and 440 meters long with spaces for pedestrians in both direction,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The bridge, which will stretch from al-Tanouma on the eastern bank of Shatt al-Arab to the area of al-Ashar, will have a lifespan of 50 years and should carry heavy means of agricultural and construction transport of 32 tons,” he added. He did not say how much the project will cost. Ibn Majid had implemented a floating bridge project in the area of al-Sharash in Basra at a cost of 1.45 billion Iraqi dinars.
