Maysan PC resents agricultural sector’s low allocations in 2012 budget

Maysan (IraqiNews.com) Head of the Agricultural Committee in Maysan Provincial Council  Hassan Lazim said that “The government is not serious in addressing the agricultural issue because it had only allocated 2 trillion and 400 billion IQD which represents less than 2% of the total budget which was 117 trillion IQD.” 

Lazim stated to (IraqiNews.com) on Tuesday that “The amount allocated is not enough to complete one of the irrigation projects approved years ago and not implemented yet such as Kut- Amara and Amara- Gran Irrigation projects.” 

“There are complications and conditions prevent the farmers from getting an agricultural loan from the concerned authorities, which negatively impacted the agriculture condition which noticeably declined under the clear negligence by the government” Lazim added.
