Missan’s agricultural dept. prepares for winter
MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: The agricultural department in Missan province has prepared an integrated plan for winter planting, the department’s director said. “The plan proposes the planting of 338,000 donums (1 donum= 2,500 square meters) of land with wheat, 300,000 donums with barley, and 50,000 donums with winter vegetables…,” Nasir Manati told IraqiNews.com. A considerable amount of wheat seeds and fertilizers will be distributed to farmers as part of the plan, Manati added. Missan is a Shiite province. Its capital city is al-Amara. Sitting on the Tigris River, Amara lies 390 km south of Baghdad. Missan, in the east of the country, bordering Iran, is home to many marsh Arabs. SS (P)/SR 1
