PM for Energy Affairs confers with Czech companies

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraq‘s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Hussein al-Shahristany has conferred in Prague on Monday with the Czech Prime Minister and a number of Czech companies, inviting them to work in Iraq, his office stated on Tuesday. “Both sides discussed the development of economic relations in the fields of industry and energy, and Shaharistany had expressed Iraq‘s willingness for the entrance of Czech companies to work in Iraq, especially that the Iraqi government is now planning to build large projects in the fields of petrochemicals, iron & steel, along with the Oil Ministry’s plans to build 4 refineries for oil products in Kirkuk, Karbala, Missan and Nassiriya cities and provinces, with a daily production capacity of 750,000 barrels per day (bpd),” the statement stressed. The statement pointed out that Shahristany had delivered a speech in the opening of the Czech -Iraqi Club for Businessmen, attended by the Czech Minister of Industry & Trade and a large number of Czech companies, in which he said that “Iraq, after signing several oil licenses contracts, shall be able to stand at the forefront of the oil-producing companies in the world.” Shahristany is accompanies in his present visit to Prague with Iraq‘s Acting Defense Minister, Saadoun al-Duleimy, Minister of Industry & Minerals, Ahmed al-Karbouly and the Chairman of Iraq‘s Investment Commission, Sami al-Aaaraji.
