Proposal to impose taxes on imported agricultural products

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: National Alliance MP Fo’ad al-Dourki disclosed a proposal to impose a tax on imported agricultural produces in order to protect national production, pointing out that the production of fruit was deteriorating due to incorrect policies.   Dourki told IraqiNews.com that a sum of 250 Iraqi dinars will be charged on every kilogram of imported agricultural products, which go towards by the local governments to raise the prices of the imported items in comparison to those that are locally produced.    Iraq randomly imports agricultural produce, which has resulted in calls to halt the imports or close the borders.
